Indore is famous for its food and is known for its wide variety of Namkeens, Poha & Jalebi, Chaats (snacks), Kachoris and Samosas, cuisines of various types in different restaurants, and Bengali, Muslim, Rajasthani, continental and confectionery sweets, as well as exotic dishes such as Dal-Bafla, Nihari Gosht and Bafla-Gosht.

There have a great breakfast in the morning with kachories, samosas and pohas, and then there are sweets as jalebies Imarties Gulab jamuns and rabdi. One must also not miss Baked(Bina Tala) Samosas/Patties, Bana hua style, all over the city, mostly available at Saanchi Milk Parlours.Everyone has their own taste.

The shikanji is a fascinating blend of milk and dry fruits, lassi is flavored yoghurt. Besides, appetizers like Jal-Jira and santrola are also found aplenty in the shops, bistros and restaurants of Indore. It is imperative that tourists savor the wide array of street food that is sold in the food galleries of Indore till wee hours of the night. Besides, restaurants like the Sarafa and the Shappan Dukan also offer gastronomic delights for the connoisseur of good vegetarian food.

Sarafa-The Night Market(After 8:00 p.m-12:00 a.m.) - If you are a food lover this is the place to be. No visit to Indore is complete without Sarafa visit in the evening. The place bustles in the night with plethora of food stalls offering the best chats of India. You will indulge in food like you have never done before. It has Indore specialties like sabudana khichri (best in the country), aloo tikiya, and others like pav bhaji, dosas, samosas. Chappan Dukaan (located at the heart of city. It has 56 shops, where you can get different types of food. Must try's include; Madhuram Sweets- Shikanji, Dry fruit Paan,Jain Sweets-Jalebi,Jhonnys-Hot Dog,Young Tarang-Poha morning hours and many chat and delicacies.
