Indore: Some customers have accused employees of Mannapuram Gold of fraud, saying weight of their gold ornaments was found less when they took back the jewelry after payment. However, no formal complaint was lodged with police.
Sunhara Khan, a resident of Bhishti Mohalla and Trilok Hardia reached Central Kotwali police station to lodge a complaint against employees of Mannapuram Bank situated at Ranipura.
Sunhara claimed she had kept her gold ornaments weighing 80 grams to avail `1.05 lakh loan from the bank in 2010. On February 8 this year, she deposited `1.38 lakh with interest to get the ornaments back, she added.
"When we took back the gold ornaments from the bank, the packet was already open whereas, according to norms, it should be opened in front of the customer," Sunhara told.
She alleged a gold ring, earrings and necklace were damaged and weight was 3 to 4 gram less than when they were deposited in the bank. Similar charge was leveled by Trilok Hardia against the bank employees.
They also claimed they had gone to lodge complaint with consumer forum but even after running pillar to post, their complaint could not be lodged due to demand of various documents.
Mannapuram bank area manager SK Upadhyay said after he came to know about the allegations, he ordered a probe."If any employee was found guilty of tempering with the sealed ornaments, appropriate action will be taken against him", he said.
